Hello my lovelies! As you know, I love doing book cover reveals. So, here I am with another one for the Heresy. Yay (crowd cheers)! The reason that I love doing book cover reveals is because:
- I get to be one of the first people to see what a book will look like
- I’m the one that gets to show you guys a brand new book with an awesome cover
- I also get to introduce you to an author you may not have heard about before but is still worthy of recognition
It fills my bookworm heart with joy to be able to show you books like these and discuss them. And if you like book cover reveals as much as I do, check out another one that I did recently for the book Eucalyptus Street. Any-who, lets get on with the book shall we! Today I have the honor of discussing what the book is about, who the author is, and showing you the most important part, the book cover.
Heresy Book Blurb
In Arcadia, being different is heresy. Heresy is death. To survive, citizens must live, dress, and even love according to the United Council’s will. Their power is absolute—until a rebel bomb ignites at a national ceremony and unites the lives of three unlikely people.
When the bombing goes wrong, Nicolette Howell, a young heretic, finds herself alone and on the run, bearing secrets that Arcadia would kill for. When she’s captured, she must escape, but how can she, when her best chance lies with the son of her sworn enemy?
Driven by the execution of an innocent, Jacob Osgood, a United Councilor’s son, hunts for the truth about the heretic movement that Arcadia has hidden. But the truth could cost him the one thing he cannot stand to lose: the girl who saved his life at the bombing.
Shiloh Haven, the orphaned daughter of heretics, is forced to become Arcadia’s spy in a sinister plot to destroy the heretic army. She faces a terrible choice: survive or risk everything to save the boy she might just love and the rebels who are her only chance of being free.
As their fates entwine, the three must answer an impossible question. What would you die for?
My Initial Thoughts
When I read the blurb, I thought this book must be so intense and filled with drama! It definitely doesn’t sound like a light read at all. But that’s okay with me because I don’t often need a light read. Books that I seem to gravitate to are heavy, action packed, and engrossing so much so that my emotions spill out of my head.
I haven’t read the book yet (because it isn’t out yet) but it just seems like one of those types of books. The idea of a dictatorship is a cool concept to integrate into a story. They are written about a lot though, so its interesting to see how authors can get creative and put their own spin on it. I mean, you read the blurb, tell me your thoughts. What do you think?
About the Author, C.A. Campbell
Before I get to the juicy part of this post and show you the cover, I wanted to tell you a little bit about the author. Although, lets be honest, you probably already scrolled down to look at the cover (it’s okay, I probably would have done the same thing). Wether you already looked at the cover or not, here is a little info on the author of Heresy
C. A. Campbell hails from Kansas City (The Missouri side, if you please), where she shares her writing space with her husband and three ridiculous dogs. She splits her time between writing, saving lives, and teaching students how not to kill people as a neonatal intensive care nurse and nurse educator. When she’s not working, she can be found (likely, in her pajamas) making things out of yarn, listening to a true crime podcast, or yelling at medical errors in television shows. Heresy is her debut novel.
Being that this is her first novel, I am curious to see how it will turn out. The blurb sounds amazing, she seems like a really interesting person, and the cover that I’ve seen looks awesome! They say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, but if I were only to see the cover, I would at least pick it up to see what its about. You can learn more about her by following her on social media:
Not to be confused with the other C.A. Campbell
When you hear the name, C.A. Campbell, you may not be thinking of her, who is an author. You may instead be thinking of the philosopher Charles Arthur Campbell who was a philosopher. Although, he did right a few books of his own. Either way, as you can see they are not the same person. I may not have needed to throw in that distinction, but who doesn’t love a good little fun fact!
Heresy Book Cover Reveal Time!
Alright, I’ve pulled your leg enough. Now it’s time for the cover reveal. Pull back the curtains because here is what the cover of Heresy looks like!
I love this cover because it looks as intense as the summary sounds! I love the fire and the intense look of the woman on the cover (who is meant to depict the character, Shiloh Haven in the book).
I’m curious to know how you’d rate this cover. Leave a comment with a number between 1 and 10 so I know how much you like it. If I were to pick a number, I’d probably say 9. This is mainly because I love the simple, yet intense imagery.
Unfortunately this is just a book cover reveal. Meaning the book isn’t out yet. It is set to release in early November. I’ll be sure to update this post when it comes out though. Until then, you’ll have to sit back, add this to your never-ending TBR list, and wait patiently. I can tell you with confidence that this book is now on my personal TBR list.
